We are serious about wine.... but not too serious
Pour Choices is all about making wine enjoyable and accessible for all. Although we are traditionalists at heart and as such believe that wine's incredible history and cultural legacy should be preserved and respected, we also believe that wine's true purpose is to provide pleasure and to bring people together. That's why at Pour Choices, our central mission is to increase people’s enjoyment of wine by offering wine education and consulting services in a fun and friendly format. Cheers to all!
Chris Kirkham, DipWSET, CWE
Chris started his wine career nearly 20 years ago working in the Canadian wine scene as a Sommelier and Wine Director for some of Vancouver’s top restaurants as well as an Independent Wine Consultant, Educator, and Critic. While living in Vancouver, Canada, he completed his Level 4 Diploma from the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) in London England – a certification less that 2% of the world’s wine professionals have attained. He also became a WSET Certified Wine Educator. Chris then began travelling the world to learn from some of the industries best winemakers and is now a winemaker himself and partner of Res Fortes Wines in the South of France. In early 2021, he relocated to the beautiful city of Funchal, Madeira, and opened Pour Choices Wine School & Consulting to share his passion for wine with the wonderful people of his newly adopted island home.
